Pizza Fest – Hot Mom Summer.

I was looking for some good affordable fun as summer festivities is in full effect. I remember this time las year I was 6months pregnant and felt like a sack of potatoes with so much to do and little time I barley did anything last summer but this time I intend to explore, I say all these to say if you see me in these streets say hi…..

So PizzaFest was fun, over 30 food truck stand, live music, blazing DJ’s, fun photo stands, basketball hoops, bouncing castle for the kids, ice-cream and lemonade stand it was pizza Christmas. The cover fee per person was 25 dollars which I wasn’t aware of before I left my house but anyways the fee is just an entry fee, we get inside and had to get food stamps in order to buy whatever we wanted. I spent another 30 dollars to get these stamps, at these point we where hungry as we didn’t have lunch before leaving home so we take a quick tour and settled for what kind of pizza we where going to get. I got my first slice of pizza from Wood Oven Pizza, it was like fireworks in my mouth, no lie and my taste buds could tell the difference. The cheese and basil tasted expensive, lol then I made my way to another pizza stand, at this point I had already spent 12 dollars out of my stamps.

The next stand I want to wasn’t a pizzeria but actual food stand, they sold North American food specifically Ecuadorian food, I wanted to try it even though its a PizzaFest my tummy was craving real food hence why, I got rice and vegetable sauce with oven baked chicken. It was all the flavor in one place, and the chicken was not to dry even though it was baked unfortunately I didn’t take pictures and don’t remember the name of the restaurant. At this point I had 6 dollars left and was full so I decided to burn the calories and made my way to the stage where live acts where performing. A special act caught my attention her name is Dj Livia she can spin for ages. They also had contest and various table games like scrabble, chess and the arena so if you wanted an intimate yet outdoor time with your family you can have as well.

It was set up properly and easy on the eyes, not overwhelming like must festivals. I loved everything about it expect I felt the cover fee was too much but I cant knock down there hustle. How is your summer going so far? Any plans? I think I will be going to Canada’s wonderland this weekend. Ha! so hyped,

So happy

Soaking In The Summer

Well hello wonderful people….

I have been gone for a long minute, I was adjusting to the blessings of motherhood to say the least but I am back, Yay! So summer is here and before I go back to work from my maternity leave, I did to go to the country side 2hrs away from Toronto, Lincoln to be exact. Its called Ball’s Falls Conservation Center.

This board as all the description about the conservation center

My son loved it too as it was so peaceful, the center charged a cover fee which is 8 dollars and 6 dollars for students and seniors. The working trail is about 2.1km to the upper falls and 1km to the lower falls, I struggled a little carrying my baby while hiking because its not so stroller friendly going to the upper falls that is. The scenery is fantastic and a lot of pure fresh air as you make your way up, there is also an abandoned building on your way to the lower falls, beautiful for your Instagram feed or for a family photograph hanging on the wall , https://www.instagram.com/bunmiamara/ follow the link to see what I mean.

The drive was about 2 hours and we got there by around 9.50am, the fall is quite large and aside from the sites can be enjoyed for a picnic, family cricket game or baseball and a wedding ceremony as well in my opinion. Here is a link to the fall to find all the necessary information you need to know https://npca.ca/parks/balls-falls . In all we had a great experience after all the cold winter days been wrapped up in blanket and using a heater it was finally lovely yo soak in the sun and walk outdoors without a winter jacket or rain coat. If you ever around Ontario and need a quick detour I did advice you go to The Ball’s Fall.

SO much beauty in one place

Regrets (Pregnancy Edition)

Now I know better….

About a year ago today I was in denial about me possibly been pregnant. I was supposed to get my period on the 30th of January 2018 and I just came back from Colombia so I was like maybe my system is readjusting to all the fun I had back in Colombia, well now I know for a fact that wasn’t the case. LOL

There is something your first! it teaches you more than you can imagine, First break up, first love, first trip oversea etc.. After I came out of my denial phase I start researching about everything pregnancy like I didn’t know anything prior. I was a mess, I started worrying which when looking back at I shouldn’t have. I worried because myself and my now husband are in a long distance relationship plus most of our families are back home in Africa, so basically I was by myself all through I was pregnant and due to immigration reasons, my husband couldn’t be with me at the same time I was processing a visiting visa for my mom. Seeing how everything turned out I should have probably planned better instead of worrying. Don’t get me wrong some level of worry comes with the situation but I wasted too much time plus I was also faced with the housing situation. I felt like I was going to choke at any time.

For any mom to be reading this blog, don’t rely on youtube a 100% for your information, its all entertainment, “vlogger” trying to get clicks and views will say almost anything, I made that mistake and it intensified my worries even more. My mom just left back to Nigeria after spending 4months and a week with us, now I’m by myself but have a good idea about caring for a baby and managing time – still learning the ropes of course. I still worry but instead, I concentrate on finding a solution.

The smile on his face sends my worries out of town…

My Winter snacks

Since I’m home all winter taking care of my newborn and getting used to motherhood some of the pecks are having some downtime depending on how much your baby lets you have. I try to joggle between his short naps and take advantage of them to try out some yummy recipes.

In this case, I did some Meat pies and puff puff. These are Nigerian snack and are commonly found on the street before now I have never tried making puff puff but I had done meat pie in the recent past. Even though I am trying to lose the baby weight I prefer a homemade meal or in this case snack and since its winter here I don’t have the luxury of going out as much due to the cold so I tend to get creative in the kitchen.

Here is a picture of my puff puff-

It missing the circular bouncy shape but still tastes delicious

The recipe to this yumminess are all over the internet and on Youtube but if you still want to know what I used and didn’t use in mine let me know so I can blog about it. What are some of your favorite snacks to munch on? Do let me know in the comments..

Xoxo….

Binge on …Netflix

Now that we are well into the new years and gone back to our usual business, at least most of us. I wanted to share some of the things I have been up to. For starters I’m trying to get some type of routine with a newborn baby around it so different…… but also enjoying my maternity leave. Here in Canada, we have the option of taking a year or 2 years off work, I settled for a year, ask me how I feel in another 3 months.

With my mom around helping me with the baby I get to go out with friends, have some me time even if its an hour and just chill. I catch some new movies on Netflix last week. Lion Heart by Genevieve Nnaji and El Ganador by Nicky Jam. Listennnnnn, I don’t know if its the cold winter and a cup of hot chocolate that made me enjoy these movies more or the fact that they are actually really good movies. Let me start with Lion Heart.

Lion Heart premiered at Tiff

Lion Heart was created by Nigerian actress and producer (Genevive) and trust me when I say the movie resonated with me in every way possible, The character Ada- I could relate with her struggles, her role as the 1st daughter and her ambition. I am trying not to give any spoilers but if after this post you take time out to watch the movie and don’t like it then I have failed you. The script was well acted out I thought, the transition was done nicely, I can go on and on but I see why Netflix bought the movie.

El Ganador was shot in Mexico, Colombia, New York and Puerto Rico

Now to Nicky Jam’s El Ganador, I find this doc-series informative as Reggaeton artist Nicky Jam takes us through his journey, growing up in the States and in Puerto Rico, his struggle with drugs and his rebirth. Its a 13 episode and features Nicky Jam himself. I particularly fall in love with this series because I lived in Colombia for 2 years plus and that was how I first found out about reggaeton music and artist such as J balvin, Daddy Yankee etc. from then on I fall in love with Nicky’s music hence why also because I have 1st hand seen what drug addiction does to people so I was particularly interested in his story. You might say who has time for a 13 episode series well that’s what I said initially but I got hooked after seeing 2 episodes and finished it overnight. Thankfully my baby was sound asleep.

Let me know what you think about these movies if you decide to see them please and what do you recommend on Netflix so I can Binge watch.

Happy New Years!!!

I remember going into 2018, I was at a friend’s house in Bogota Colombia, watching the New year’s countdown with my boyfriend and her husband. My vision board was packed with all I wanted to achieve since I was almost done with school not knowing I was gonna get pregnant in a few days and have my 1st baby in September 2018.

Moral of the story – I still don’t know, lol. All I can say is that trust God and your process. It will produce an incredible outcome even you wont be ready for. My son as opened so many doors in my life I cant even begin to imagine. I am indeed grateful to God for giving me my son.

2019 also as a vision board to appreciate all the little things most importantly.

Happy New Year fellow Bloggers…
